Russian, Algerian FMs Discuss Middle East, Sahara-Sahel Region, Russia's Foreign Ministry Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The emphasis at the talks was made on the need for a speedy resolution of conflicts exclusively by political and diplomatic means based on the generally recognized principles of international law and UN Charter provisions, the Foreign Ministry noted.
Russian and Algerian foreign ministers Sergey Lavrov and Ahmed Attaf discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Sahara-Sahel region on the sidelines of the first Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Current issues of further strengthening the relations of deep strategic partnership between Russia and Algeria were discussed. At the same time, the high level of coordination in various multilateral formats, including the UN Security Council, was noted with satisfaction," the ministry said on Telegram.
A confidential exchange of views was also held on global and regional issues of mutual interest, with an emphasis on the situation in the Middle East and the Sahara-Sahel region, the statement added.
