The press service of Russian state-owned multinational energy corporation Gazprom said that the company plans to supply gas tankers to Tanzania. The corporation added in a statement that the devices are designed for refueling various vehicles with compressed natural gas, as well as for its transportation. According to the report of the press service of Gazprom, this project will increase the number of daily refueling operations in the Tanzanian NGV market, and at the same time, the number of local car owners choosing natural gas is actively rising. Dmitry Khandoga, a head of the International Business Department in Gazprom, said during his speech at African Energy Week, held in Cape Town, that the countries of the Global South in general and the African continent in particular will be a new growth point for natural gas consumption. He underscored that population growth and urbanization dictate the need to provide access to a reliable and clean source of energy.
