The Kirov region, spurred by anti-Russian sanctions, has expanded its trade into African markets since 2021, the ministry of industry, entrepreneurship, and trade of the Russian Kirov region told Sputnik. This proactive approach has yielded substantial results, with established partnerships in countries like Congo, Egypt, Kenya, and South Africa, and recent expansion into Cameroon and Ghana. The region's primary exports to Africa include chemical products, particularly fertilizers, and timber products like plywood and lumber. To further strengthen these ties, the Kirov region actively promotes its offerings at international events. Representatives from numerous African nations attended exhibitions featuring Kirov products in 2024, paving the way for new collaborations and supply chains. The region is also exploring a business mission of woodworking enterprises to Egypt in 2025, recognizing the strong demand for forestry products from African partners.Beyond these initiatives, the Kirov region is fostering closer ties with African nations through events featuring trade representatives, ambassadors, and business leaders, the ministry noted. Regional businesses receive targeted information and consulting support to navigate the intricacies of the African market. The goal is to further boost trade and economic ties with these burgeoning markets.
