As of September 1, 2024, the housing completion in Russia reached 71.3 million square meters, which is 1.6% higher than the figure for the same period in 2023, as per the Russian Ministry of Construction. Notably, growth has continued over several years, with 12.6% more housing built in 2021 compared to 2020, and 11% more in 2022 compared to 2021.
Russia is interested in attracting labor from Zimbabwe, particularly in the construction sector, which is experiencing growth despite Western sanctions, state media outlet The Herald reported, following a meeting between the Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities of the Republic, Soda Zhemu, and the Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation, Nikita Stasishin, on the sidelines of the 12th session of the International Urban Forum in Cairo.
Stasishin, as noted by the publication, proposed that Zimbabwe provide Russia with construction workers to assist in implementing various projects. The Russian side also expressed its willingness to share its experience with the republic in executing social housing programs.

According to the newspaper, the parties reached agreements on several issues, including a visit by the Russian delegation to Zimbabwe to explore cooperation prospects in the construction sector. Various areas of interaction (infrastructure development, new construction technologies, providing affordable housing) were discussed within the framework of implementing the memorandum of understanding signed in July 2023.
