MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Wednesday, the emergency coordination center in the Spanish autonomous community of Valencia reported that heavy rains and flooding have increased the death toll to 92.
The death toll in Valencia has risen to 155 due to heavy rains and flooding, Spanish news agency EFE reported on Thursday.
In the current situation, President of the Valencian government Carlos Mazon said on Thursday that he had asked the central government of Spain to deploy the military personnel to provide assistance to victims affected by the deadly floods.
"I have just requested to leverage the government's army and the available land, sea and air forces to carry out logistical work and distribute aid to the people," Mazon said on X.
The Spanish military department on emergency situations has confirmed that it would join the rescue and relief efforts at 8:00 am local time (07:00 GMT) on Friday, Mazon also said.

Heavy rains and storms have caused an emergency situation in Spain, particularly in Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Andalusia. Valencia has declared a maximum red alert. Flooding caused the closure of over 60 roads and dozens of secondary roads. Over 1,000 troops have been deployed in Valencia to assist local emergency services.
Additionally, the Spanish government declared a three-day mourning for the victims, Territorial Policy Minister Angel Victor Torres said, adding that the mourning would last from October 31 to November 2 and that Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has transferred the corresponding decree to King Felipe VI.
