The call for such a resolution was made by the permanent representatives of the Arab League countries during an emergency meeting of the League Council, based on a request submitted by Jordan, the report said on Thursday. The Council also called on the Arab representatives in New York to coordinate their actions with ambassadors and delegates of friendly countries and the UN General Secretariat to request the convening of a special session of the UN General Assembly to discuss the consequences of Israel’s actions and to adopt a UN resolution, the report added. In addition, the Arab League called on the Arab parliaments and the Inter-Parliamentary Union to put pressure on the Israeli parliament to reverse the decision on UNRWA. It was also reportedly proposed to work on studying the adoption of possible measures to freeze Israel’s membership in the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The Israeli parliament passed two bills on Monday banning UNRWA from operating within Israel and barring Israeli authorities from making contacts with the UN agency, the main provider of relief aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini warned that the move effectively delegitimized the agency's efforts to provide assistance to Palestinian refugees.

Arab League Reportedly Calls for UN Resolution Against Israel's Decision to Ban UNRWA
DOHA (Sputnik) - The Arab League countries have called Israel’s bills banning the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) illegal, stating the need to adopt a UN resolution to prevent it, the Arabi21 news portal reported.
The call for such a resolution was made by the permanent representatives of the
Arab League countries during an emergency meeting of the League Council, based on a request submitted by Jordan, the report said on Thursday.
The Council also called on the Arab representatives in New York to coordinate their actions with ambassadors and delegates of friendly countries and the UN General Secretariat to request the convening of a special session of the UN General Assembly to discuss the consequences of Israel’s actions and to adopt a
UN resolution, the report added.
The Israeli parliament passed two bills on Monday banning UNRWA from operating within Israel and barring Israeli authorities from making contacts with the UN agency, the main provider of relief aid to
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini warned that the move effectively delegitimized the agency's efforts to provide assistance to Palestinian refugees.
