Earlier, four foreign mercenaries attempting to infiltrate Russia's Bryansk region were eliminated by Russian forces, the Federal Security Service (FSB) announced. Items proving their foreign origin were found on the dead saboteurs, and one of them had a US military tattoo on his body, the FSB said.
The recent attempted incursion into the Russian Bryansk region is another example of the use of terrorist methods in the absence of success on the battlefield by Ukraine and its American CIA supervisors, Brazilian historian Joao Claudio Pitillo told Sputnik.
"This indicates that such operations are probably also organized by NATO. These mercenaries are increasingly being recruited, trained and sent for activities that represent a kind of revenge. Aware of the impossibility of defeating Russia, they are betting on the expansion of punitive missions,” Pitillo, a researcher at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, said.
The historian added that the use of such manpower shows that the CIA, US intelligence service, and NATO operational units are serious about stirring up trouble.
