South Africa is preparing to formally present its case against Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Monday, aiming to prove that Israel is committing genocide in Palestine, according to diplomatic sources cited by the media. The memorial offers extensive evidence presented in "forensic detail" to assert that “this is not just a plausible case of genocide, but indeed it is genocide,” South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola told South African media.According to the report, after the memorial is submitted, the respondent, which in this instance is Israel, will be required to present a counter-memorial by July 28 of the following year. The South African case against Israel was filed in December 2023 and was subsequently joined by Nicaragua, Palestine, Turkey, Spain, Mexico, Libya, and Colombia. The ICJ's preliminary ruling demands Israel to prevent acts under the Genocide Convention and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel, leading to a devastating response that has claimed the lives of over 42,000 Palestinians in Gaza and left thousands more injured, according to Gazan authorities.
South Africa is preparing to formally present its case against Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Monday, aiming to prove that Israel is committing genocide in
Palestine, according to diplomatic sources cited by the media.
The memorial offers extensive evidence presented in "forensic detail" to assert that “this is not just a plausible case of genocide, but
indeed it is genocide,” South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola told South African media.
According to the report, after the memorial is submitted, the respondent, which in this instance is Israel, will be required to present a counter-memorial by July 28 of the following year.
The South African case against Israel was filed in December 2023 and was subsequently joined by Nicaragua, Palestine, Turkey, Spain, Mexico, Libya, and Colombia. The ICJ's preliminary ruling demands Israel to prevent acts under the Genocide Convention and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the
civilian population of Gaza.
