TEHRAN (Sputnik) - After the airstrike on October 1, Iran claimed the attack was in retaliation for the assassinations of Palestine's Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, Lebanon's Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, and Iran's IRGC General Abbas Nilforoushan.
The United States has provided Israel with satellite imagery data concerning movements of the Iranian missile units prior to the Iranian strike on Israel, Brigade Gen. of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Gholamreza Soleimani said on Tuesday.
"At the time [of Iranian strikes on the Israeli territory], the US warned the Israelis ... Israel did not know about the strike. The US saw the movements of Iranian missile divisions on its satellite images. Washington transferred those images to Israelis," Soleimani said at a conference in Iran's Shiraz.
Last Tuesday, Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel, calling it an act of self-defense. The Israeli military said about 180 ballistic missiles were fired, most of which were intercepted. According to Israeli authorities, there were no civilian casualties.
