11:53 08.10.2024 (Updated: 11:57 08.10.2024) WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - On January 6, 2021, the US Capitol Building in Washington, DC, was attacked by a mob of supporters of then-President Donald Trump in an attempted self-coup two months after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
The White House still remains concerned about the possibility that there
might not be a peaceful transfer of power following the US presidential election, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Monday.
"I think the President and myself and many others have spoken to what we saw on January 6 of 2021, and so obviously there's always concerns," Jean-Pierre said.
Jean-Pierre added that Biden believes the US presidential election in November will be free and fair.
