Suspected cholera cases have also risen sharply to 10,837, up from 3,387 in the previous year, with the majority of cases affecting children under the age of five.
Lagos, Nigeria's commercial center, accounted for the largest proportion of cases, with 43% of all suspected instances, according to the NCDC.
In northeastern Borno, authorities reportedly announced last Friday that a cholera outbreak has impacted the area, which is also facing severe
flooding that has displaced nearly 2 million people.
