CAIRO (Sputnik) - Israeli strikes in Lebanon have killed more than 1,000 people in the past two weeks, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said on Tuesday.
Egypt condemns the Israeli land incursion into southern Lebanon and rejects attempts to change the status quo, Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty said on Tuesday.

"Minister Abdelatty said that Egypt condemned the dangerous Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon. He stressed that Egypt rejected any attempts to change the status quo in a way that affected Lebanon's sovereignty," the ministry said.

Foreign Minister Abdelatty made the comment in a phone call to Lebanese parliamentary speaker Nabih Berri.

The situation on the Israeli-Lebanese border aggravated after the start of Israel's military operation in the Gaza Strip in October 2023. The Israeli military and Hezbollah fighters exchange fire almost daily in areas along the border.
