MOSCOW (Sputnik) - At least 60 people died as a boat carrying about 300 passengers, mostly women and children, capsized in the North Central region of Nigeria, the Vanguard news outlet reported on Wednesday, citing local authorities.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday evening near the village of Gbajibo in the Niger State, as the boat was transporting villagers back home from a local market.
As many as 10 survivors have been found so far, the report read, adding that emergency teams continued working at the site of the incident.
The cause of the capsize is yet to be determined, Vanguard reported.
