The Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday called for an investigation into an airstrike that hit the residence of the United Arab Emirates' ambassador in the war-torn Sudanese capital of Khartoum. The ministry urged the internationally recognized government in Sudan and the rebel paramilitary RSF to immediately halt hostilities and engage in a political dialogue in order to find mutually acceptable solutions for ending the conflict. The Sudanese Armed Forces launched a large-scale offensive against RSF positions in Khartoum last week. The UAE said on Sunday that its top diplomat's residence in the Sudanese capital was targeted by a Sudanese military aircraft and demanded that the army assume full responsibility for the attack. The army denied its involvement and blamed the airstrike on the RSF.

Russian Foreign Ministry Calls for Probe Into Attack on UAE Ambassador's Home in Sudan
09:22 01.10.2024 (Updated: 10:50 01.10.2024) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Clashes broke out between the Sudanese regular army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April 2023. The parties have since agreed to a number of temporary nationwide ceasefires, but none have lasted.
The Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday called for an investigation into an airstrike that
hit the residence of the United Arab Emirates' ambassador in the war-torn Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
"Russia strongly condemns any attacks on diplomatic missions and any attempts on their integrity. There is no justification for actions that violate the basic norms of international law. Russia calls for a thorough investigation into the incident," the statement read.
The ministry urged the internationally recognized government in Sudan and the rebel paramilitary RSF to immediately halt hostilities and engage in a political dialogue in order to find mutually acceptable solutions for ending the conflict.
"Russia is ready, in coordination with regional partners, to actively facilitate such contacts," the statement read.
The Sudanese Armed Forces launched a large-scale offensive against RSF positions in Khartoum last week. The
UAE said on Sunday that its top diplomat's residence in the Sudanese capital was targeted by a Sudanese military aircraft and demanded that the army assume full responsibility for the attack. The army denied its involvement and blamed the airstrike on the RSF.
