South Africa filed a case against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over the Jewish state's actions in Gaza. The ICJ's preliminary ruling demands that Israel cease actions that constitute genocide and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches the civilian population of Gaza.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa highlighted the UN's role in ending apartheid in South Africa and condemned Israel's actions against Palestinians, drawing parallels with South Africa's experience.

“The only lasting solution is the establishment of a Palestinian State that will exist side by side with Israel with East Jerusalem as its capital,” Ramaphosa stressed, addressing the UN General Assembly.

Ramaphosa called for international action through the UN system and other multinational institutions to end the suffering of civilians and for support for South Africa's legal case against Israel at the ICJ.
