The Summit of the Future is a high-level event in the 79th United Nations General Assembly program, bringing together world leaders to forge a new international consensus on how to create a better present and secure a better future.
During the interactive dialogue themed "Enhancing Multilateralism for International Peace and Security" at the Summit of the Future, Nigeria's Defense Minister, Mohammed Badaru, reiterated his country's call for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council, highlighting the country's significant contributions to global peacekeeping.

"Nigeria has remained unequivocal in its commitment to international peacebuilding and security," Mohammed Badaru said.

Badaru highlighted the crucial role Nigeria has played in peacekeeping across Africa and elsewhere, including missions in Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Mali, Sudan, and other countries.
The minister also stressed the need to strengthen Africa's armed forces to combat terrorism and regional instability.
