Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah said it had attacked with rockets the Amos logistics base and an explosives factory in the northern Israeli town of Zikhron Ya'akov on Tuesday night. Moreover, the movement also launched rocket attacks on the Israeli Air Force bases Ramat David and Megiddo airport in northern Israel. The statement noted that the shelling was carried out "in defense of Lebanon and its people." Israeli aircraft began carrying out massive strikes on settlements in southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday morning. Dozens of villages and a number of regional settlements were hit. Hezbollah fighters, in turn, fired dozens of rockets toward northern Israel. The Lebanese government has already called on the UN to intervene and stop Israeli aggression. The latest escalation with increased intensity of shelling from both sides occurred after massive explosions of communications means in various areas of Lebanon on September 17 and 18, which killed dozens of people and injured about 3,000. Later, Israeli aircraft struck a residential building in the southern suburbs of Beirut, killing more than 50 people, including Hezbollah special operations commander Ibrahim Aqil.Shiite resistance fighters responded by attacking the Ramat David Israeli Air Force base and the Rafael defense industry facility in northern Haifa. Several rockets fell in residential areas on the outskirts of the Israeli city.
