Previously, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Uganda's Defense Forces and the eldest son of current Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, announced on X his plans to run for president in 2026. However, these posts were later removed.
On Saturday, the son of Uganda's leader Yoweri Museveni announced that he had decided not to pursue a presidential bid in the 2026 election and encouraged his supporters to back his father instead.

"I would like to announce that I will not be on the ballot paper in 2026. Almighty God told me to focus on His Army first," Muhoozi Kainerugaba said on X. "I fully endorse President Yoweri Museveni in the next elections."

Despite no official announcement, President Museveni, 80, is anticipated to seek re-election.
