West Has Contributed to Terrorism Emergence in Russia & Africa, Russian Diplomatic Spokeswoman Says

On September 18, the IV Eurasian Women's Forum started in St. Petersburg. The theme of the forum is "Strengthening Trust and Global Cooperation." The event is organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Western countries have contributed to the emergence of terrorism in Russia and Africa for their own benefit, Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at the Forum.
"Africa suffers from terrorism because it is brought there from outside, because it is profitable for Western companies to trade weapons, throwing new and new problems there. Because under the aegis of terrorism, it is profitable and possible to take away resources, sow chaos, political instability, interfere in internal affairs," Maria Zakharova said.
According to her, the same was done to Russia when it was fighting against terrorism in its Northern Caucasus regions in the 1990s. A new ordeal that Russia is facing is "European terrorism, a totally new phenomenon, created by the Western mentality in order to carry out its policy of oppression, selection of resources, enslavement at a new level," Zakharova noted.
'A Beacon of Salvation'
Russia is a beacon of salvation for those states whose citizens consider traditional values as the most important thing in their lives: family, love, and protection of children, Maria Zakharova stated on the sidelines of the forum.
Zakharova called the platform of the Eurasian Women's Forum unique. "This is a wonderful, real, true platform where women can talk about their rights in the context of values, true values," she said. "And it must be given credit that Russia is ahead of the planet in this case. Such a platform exists in the world only thanks to our country."
