The agreement between the Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) and the Maputo Grain Terminal Company (MGT) will expand the terminal's capacity from 25,000 to 45,000 tonnes, increasing its annual capacity from 170,000 to 350,000 tonnes.The expansion will add four silos, bringing the total to nine, each with a capacity of 5,000 tonnes. These improvements, along with upgrades to the rail infrastructure, will streamline logistics and increase efficiency. The $5 million project is expected to take 18 months to complete.This investment reaffirms the commitment of MPDC and its partners to strengthen the logistics and competitiveness of the Port of Maputo, both regionally and globally, in line with the concession extension agreement signed in February.
