Palestine Set to Discuss Cultural Exchanges With Russia, Culture Minister Says

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) - The Palestinian and Russian culture ministers are planning to meet during the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures, which runs through September 14.
Palestinian Culture Minister Imad Hamdan told Sputnik that he planned to discuss cultural exchanges, including holding Palestinian and Russian cultural weeks in both countries, during an upcoming meeting with his Russian counterpart, Olga Lyubimova.

"I am going to meet the Russian minister of culture, and we are planning to discuss plans for exchanging bands and cultural weeks like the Palestinian cultural week to be held in Russia and the Russian cultural week to be held in Palestine within a year or less," Hamdan said.

The minister added that the implementation of these activities would depend on the situation in the Gaza Strip, with the hope that the end of the conflict would allow for their prompt commencement.

"In addition, I would like to propose a discussion on the translation and publication of certain books from Arabic into Russian, authored by Palestinians who experienced the war in Gaza. This initiative holds great significance for historical preservation and the education of our younger generations," Hamdan said.

Palestine is also seeking to expand academic exchanges and cooperation with Russia, the minister concluded.
