MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The death toll from a migrant boat capsizing off the coast of Senegal has risen to 39, with searches continuing, the country's navy said.
On Tuesday, the navy said that the capsizing of a boat
killed 26 people.
"A boat capsized near the city of Mbour. As a result of search operations … 39 bodies were found. The country's navy continues to search at sea," the navy said on X on Thursday.
The boat, carrying more than 200 people attempting to migrate to Europe, overturned approximately 3 kilometers from the coast of
Senegal overnight from Sunday into Monday.
