The declaration was made at the round table under the topic: "The struggle for peace in the 21st century. Active peacekeeping in the context of the transformation of the system of international relations," which was held on Friday in Moscow.
The Tolstoy Peace Prize, which will be awarded on September 9 at the Bolshoi Theatre in the Russian capital, will become one of the main projects of the peacekeeping community for years to come, a powerful factor in the consolidation of the healthy part of the world community, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Leonid Slutsky, said.
The round table was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Alexey Shaposhnikov, while it was moderated by First Deputy Director General of TASS news agency, Professor Mikhail Gusman.

"For me, as the Chairman of the Russian Peace Foundation, it is a great honor to become a co-founder of the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize together with the Russian Historical Society and the Russian Military Historical Society. War and peace are the most important paradigm of today's life, and everyone is concerned about the path that human civilization will take. Today, one of the greatest works of world literature, written by Leo Tolstoy, has literally been "reincarnated," so it is no coincidence that the International Peace Prize is named after the writer," emphasized Slutsky, Chairman of the Russian lower house, the State Duma, Committee on International Affairs, Chairman of the Board of the International Public Foundation "Russian Peace Foundation."

"I will definitely be present at the peace prize award ceremony because, from my point of view, this is a very important initiative. There is no need to say what a complex world we live in and how politicized many modern awards are. Politicized by those who are trying to rule the world. Because of this, such awards often lose their meaning. I would like to wish the Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize to gain "internationality," so that it does not become limited to the circle of our allies and like-minded people, so that it becomes truly global," said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, the upper house of the parliament, Konstantin Kosachev.
"We believe that the sooner we establish friendly ties between countries, capitals, and megacities, the greater the chances of strengthening a fair multipolar world. I am sure that we are moving towards it, and in this case the capitals of the BRICS countries will make every effort to ensure that the new multipolar world is built on moral standards, rights that will be understandable to everyone and that will be impeccably implemented not for the benefit of any one country but for the benefit of the entire globe," said Alexey Shaposhnikov, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma, about the interaction of municipal parliamentarians of the BRICS countries.
