Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has grown significantly in Africa, driving economic development, innovation, and improved access to services. However, challenges like inadequate infrastructure, high costs, and digital divides persist, requiring continued investment and policy support for broader, equitable ICT adoption.
Libya, Morocco, and Seychelles have emerged as the top African countries in terms of digital development, media reported, citing a recent report by Statisense.
Libya leads the continent with an impressive ICT development index score of 88.1, followed closely by Morocco at 86.8 and Seychelles at 84.7.

The report ranks nations based on their ICT infrastructure, accessibility, and usage. Other strong performers include Mauritius, South Africa, and Algeria, indicating a significant presence of North African countries among the top-ranked nations.
Meanwhile, Nigeria secured the 24th spot with a score of 46.9, while Ghana ranked 15th with 66.2 points, and Kenya took the 18th position with a score of 58.5.
This ranking highlights the progress made by these countries in improving their digital infrastructure and capabilities, contributing to their overall economic and technological advancement on the continent.
