Nearly 12,000 Ukrainian Soldiers Entered Russia's Kursk Region, Russian General Says
On August 18, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on The Washington Post report that Ukraine's attack on Russia's Kursk region had disrupted the allegedly prepared talks, said that no negotiations between Russia and Ukraine were disrupted because "there was nothing to disrupt."
On August 6, the Ukrainian forces crossed the border into Russia and launched an offensive in the Kursk region. Commenting on the attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine had carried out another large-scale provocation, firing indiscriminately at civilian targets. The enemy will receive a proper response in the border regions of Russia, Putin added.
