The Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) confirmed on Tuesday that all camps near the Sudanese border in the Central African Republic (CAR) were destroyed in coordination with soldiers from South Sudan, and the CAR and equipment were captured during the operation.The UPDF emphasized that any remaining LRA members hiding in CAR or elsewhere in Africa would be pursued unless they surrendered for proper processing and rehabilitation.This announcement follows a recent court ruling in Uganda—the first war crimes trial in the country—which found former LRA commander Thomas Kwoyelo guilty of numerous crimes against humanity, including murder, rape, and abduction.Kwoyelo, who had been awaiting trial for years, denied all charges but was convicted of 44 offenses.

The LRA's insurgency killed over 100,000 people and abducted 60,000 children across multiple African nations.
The Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) confirmed on Tuesday that all camps near the Sudanese border in the Central African Republic (CAR) were destroyed in coordination with soldiers from South Sudan, and the CAR and equipment were captured during the operation.
The UPDF emphasized that any remaining LRA members hiding in CAR or elsewhere in Africa would be pursued unless they surrendered for

“That’s what it is, confirmed,” the UPDF spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, confirmed the operation to local media.
