The Museum of African Liberation, under construction in Harare, is part of a larger 103-hectare project called "Liberation City." This project will also include a five-star hotel, a wildlife park, and national monuments. Construction began in 2022 and is expected to be completed within two years.
During the Southern African Development Community's (
SADC) Liberation Square ceremony at the Museum of African Liberation in Harare,
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa pledged continued support for the preservation and promotion of Africa's own narratives of decolonization.
"We are aware that the history of our continent has been and continues to be deliberately distorted to suit the parochial interests of our former erstwhile colonial masters," said Mnangagwa.
