MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On July 30, the UN Security Council lifted the embargo imposed in 2013 after the start of the country's civil war. Arms sales to armed groups operating in the country remain prohibited.
The Central African Republic (CAR) will cooperate with Russia in the field of defense and security following the UN Security Council's decision to lift the arms embargo on the country, CAR Communications and Mass Media Minister Maxime Balalu told Sputnik.

"Now we have the opportunity to work with Russia and other countries in this field to strengthen our defense and security forces," Balalu said in an interview.
