A year ago, then-Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, stated during a meeting with Putin and Russian manufacturing leaders that the industry endured external pressure with minimal losses. He emphasized the sector's significant role in the economy and urged it to receive "deserved attention."
Sputnik Africa is live as Russian President Vladimir Putin takes part in a meeting with members of the Russian government on the development of the manufacturing industry.
At the beginning of his speech, Putin commented on Ukraine's attack on the Kursk Region, saying that Kiev has launched another large-scale provocation, shelling indiscriminately.

"The Kiev regime has undertaken another large-scale provocation. It is conducting indiscriminate shelling from various types of weapons, including missiles, at civilian buildings, residential buildings, and ambulances," Putin said at the meeting.

In June of last year, Putin stated that the development and modernization of industry remain an "unconditional priority" for Russia. At the end of June this year, the head of state reported that in May, the growth of the manufacturing industry reached 12.8%. According to him, this figure was achieved not only due to the enterprises of the defense-industrial complex but also thanks to related sectors. Putin called the reported numbers a "good result."
