Russian ambassador Evgeny Terekhin said that the bilateral and multilateral relationships between Russia and Ethiopia have been growing since the leaders of the two countries met at the first and second Russia-Africa summits in 2019 and 2023.
The economic partnership between Russia and Ethiopia is growing, and both nations are making efforts to increase trade and investment, the Russian ambassador said in an interview with Ethiopian state media, ENA.

“We cooperate closely in different international organizations in the international arena, especially on issues of paramount concern for our two countries,” Terekhin added, as cited by the media.

He also expressed his optimism that collaboration will soon become more evident, particularly in areas such as energy, mutual trade, food security, and other sectors.
Aside from that, the diplomat underscored that both countries share a vision of a multipolar world order based on international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
The diplomat also commented on the interaction of countries within the BRICS framework, saying that the bloc will give the countries better opportunities for enlargement and strengthening of bilateral relations. He added that there is already a significant and broad range of interconnected ideas that fit together. And the political momentum is also crucial.

Russia and Ethiopia Deepen Strategic Cooperation in Mineral and Geological Exploration
Last but not least, Terekhin pointed out Russia's annual increase in scholarships for Ethiopian students and the efforts to enhance "people-to-people cooperation and relations."
“We’re developing people-to-people cooperation and relations. For instance, last year we have conducted days of Russian spiritual culture. And it was really fascinating and wonderful when chorus of one of Russian monasteries presented the church songs at Meskel Square here in Addis Ababa during the Moscow festivities. I hope we will be able to arrange something of the same kind this year as well,” he concluded.
In early July, Ethiopia's House of Federation Speaker Agegnehu Teshager told Sputnik that his country has an "excellent relationship with the Russian Parliament," adding that the two countries need to "have a relationship regarding peace and leadership, regarding different economic activities."
