The existing Guinness World Record (GWR) for the world's largest drawing by an individual was set in 2021 by Indian artist Ravi Soni, who created a 629.98-square-meter drawing.
Nigerian artist and doctor Fola David has set his sights on a
Guinness World Record with a monumental drawing that celebrates the country's diverse heritage. After six days of dedicated work in a Lagos stadium, David completed his 1,050-square-meter masterpiece, titled "Unity in Diversity," showcasing two giant hands holding a map of Nigeria.
The artwork serves as a powerful message of unity amidst the nation's 250 diverse ethnic groups, roughly divided between Muslim and Christian communities.
David emphasized that the country's cultural richness should be celebrated as a strength rather than a source of division.
"Our diversity should be seen as something that unites us, as something that strengthens us, rather than something that should create that divide between us," David stated upon completion of his ambitious project.
Guinness World Records has been notified and will be responsible for certifying David's
achievement. If successful, he will surpass the current record held by Indian artist Ravi Soni, who created a 629.98-square-meter drawing in 2021.
