"There's a lot of things in retrospect I wish I had been able to convince the Israelis to do, but the bottom line is, we have a chance now," Biden said on Thursday. "It's time to end this war." Biden further said he warned Israel not to "double down" in Gaza and avoid repeating the same mistake Washington made by prolonging its presence in Afghanistan regardless of killing Osama Bin Laden. However, the US still supports going after the leadership of the Palestinian movement, Hamas, he added. The US president further said he will continue to withhold US shipments of 2,000-pound bombs meant for Israel due to concerns that they will be used in densely populated areas in Gaza. According to Biden, there has been progress in the latest round of Gaza ceasefire talks, but he avoided disclosing any details.
