MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian armed forces struck the Sumykhimprom plant in the city of Sumy, where cluster munitions for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) are manufactured, the coordinator of the pro-Russian underground network in Nikolayev (Mykolaiv), Sergey Lebedev, told Sputnik.
Lebedev said that during the night, the Russian armed forces struck a military facility in Sumy three times.

"The second explosion took place at half past midnight. Next to the first, at the Sumykhimprom plant. The plant has a large territory, hangars, and railway lines have been connected to the plant. According to the underground, chemical production is now focused on manufacturing cluster munitions for MLRS missiles. According to the resistance, the production itself is located underground. Manufactured munitions are installed on rockets there," he said.

The Russian armed forces have also struck the city of Nikopol in the Dnepropetrovsk Region, damaging an infrastructure facility, Mykola Lukashuk, the chair of the regional council, said. Lukashuk did not specify which facility he was referring to.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. The Russian armed forces started striking critical Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, 2022, days after Ukraine bombed the Crimean bridge, which links Crimea with mainland Russia.
