MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that Russia's Yug (South) group of forces has taken full control over the Noviy area in Chasov Yar in the DPR.

"It is a significant tactical success and the key to a further advance. Opportunities are now opening up for further liberation of Chasov Yar," Gagin said.

Serious battles were taking place for a long time for the area in the eastern part of Chasov Yar, he added.
