Members of South Africa's government of national unity, formed on June 30, were sworn in and swore into office on Wednesday. The ceremony showed once again that South Africans have a great sense of humor.
As Pemmy Majodina was sworn in as a minister in the new South African government, she had trouble pronouncing only one word: "conscientiously."

"[...] And to perform the functions of my office con-shee-ence-tiously... Nantso ke!" She added in Xhosa, which can be translated as "here we go."

However, Chief Justice Raymond Zondo was supportive and taught the minister how to pronounce this tricky word correctly. Probably now Majodina will be able to say it even in her sleep.
Considering the seriousness and certain stiffness of such events, the minister's sincere and humane reaction moved parliament, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, to tears, thereby defusing the seriousness of the situation.
For the first time since 1994, when the country held its first democratic elections since the end of apartheid, the ruling African National Congress did not win a majority of votes, forcing the formation of a coalition. Ramaphosa created an 11-party Government of National Unity on the last day of June.
