Julian Assange Speaks in Australia's Capital After Being Released From Prison

On Wednesday, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange left the Northern Mariana Islands and arrived in Australia. Earlier in the day, a US judge sentenced Assange to time served without supervised release after he pleaded guilty to conspiring to illegally obtain and share classified US defense information.

The released journalist, however, decided not to speak to the press after arriving in Australia's capital Canberra, his wife explained that he will do that when the time comes.
Assange, an Australian citizen, was transferred to London's Belmarsh high-security prison in April 2019 for breaching his bail. He was charged in the US under the Espionage Act for receiving and disclosing classified information that shed light on war crimes and human rights abuses committed by US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
