MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Over 50 people have been killed and numerous injured in a series of terrorist attacks in the Nigerien state of Katsina, The Guardian Nigeria newspaper reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Terrorists attacked several communities in Katsina overnight into Monday, killing more than 50 people, a source told the newspaper, while another source put the death toll at 65. In addition, dozens of people, including women and children, were abducted and taken to the forest, the report said.
Residents of the affected communities are yet to determine the exact number of their neighbors taken hostage, while the injured persons are undergoing treatment in local hospitals, The Guardian Nigeria reported.
