She also added that she will work in the European Parliament with those who share common goals.
Von der Leyen is supported by the European People's Party, which is currently leading in the European Parliament elections.
The head of the party, Manfred Weber, said that the voting results confirmed that the current European Commission chief should be reappointed and called on other factions
to shore up their support for her.
"As we have won the election, we can call on the other political factions to support von der Leyen for the second term as the European Commission head," Weber wrote on X.

Following the elections, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said that his Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats party has lost in his country and

"This is an extremely difficult evening for us. We have lost these elections. This is not the result we expected. I am responsible for this. I will concentrate on current affairs until my successor is appointed. I am sure that we need a new government as soon as possible," De Croo said at a conference in Brussels on Sunday.
