As part of his African tour, which started on Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited the Republic of Congo on June 4, where he met with the Congolosese leadership in the country's city of Oyo.
The "intensification of contacts" between Africa and Russia "demonstrates the good progress of relations," the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Congo in Russia's city of St. Petersburg, Jocelin Patrick Mandzela, told Sputnik Africa.
He added that the Russia-Africa summit is a "perfect example" of this. Commenting on Russian diplomatic chief Sergey Lavrov's visit to the Republic of Congo, he described relations between the two countries as "very, very good."

On Tuesday, Lavrov held talks with the leadership of the country in the Congolese city of Oyo and held a joint press conference with Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Gakosso.
Senegalese researcher and economist, Demba Moussa Dembélé, told Sputnik Africa that "the Republic of the Congo is one of the African countries that had very close relations with the former Soviet Union and today's Russia."
