A project of the George and Amal Clooney Foundation is planning to hunt down Russian journalists with closed arrest warrants in the European Union amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Anna Neistat, the legal director of the Clooney Foundation's Docket project, said that the criminal code of some European countries has an article on "war propaganda."
The foundation noted that it is preparing requests to initiate proceedings in countries where such norms exist. If an arrest warrant is issued,
Russian journalists can be detained throughout Europe at the level of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol).
Neistat added that no appeals have yet been filed. The names of the journalists to be prosecuted have not been disclosed.
The foundation says they are "the most obvious Russian propagandists, the most prominent among them."
