National and provincial elections in South Africa took place on Wednesday. The National Elections Commission releases results as ballots are processed.
The South African Electoral Commission published preliminary results of the general election.
Here are some of the early outcomes:
1.
African National Congress – 41.86%;
2.
Democratic Alliance – 23.67%;
3.
uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) – 10.98%;
4.
Economic Freedom Fighters – 9.55%.
The results are based on processing 55.63% of polling stations. The voter turnout is 58.62%.
On Wednesday, Alexander Asafov, a Russian observer in the republic, told Sputnik Africa that elections in South Africa were held in accordance with national laws and regulations, noting the large number of people who wanted to cast their ballots.
