On May 6, Chad held the presidential elections after a three-year transition period. Chad's interim president, Mahamat Idriss Deby won the elections with 61.3% of the vote, the electoral commission said.
Chad's Prime Minister Succès Masra announced his resignation following the presidential elections in the country of May 6.
"With my own hands, in accordance with the constitution, I have today presented to the president of the transition my resignation and that of the transitional government, which has become irrelevant with the end of the presidential election of May 06, 2024, the results of which are known," he stated.

What Do We Know About Presidential Elections in Chad That Will End 3-Year-Long Transition Process?
The government's resignation, in accordance with the constitution, came just over two weeks after Masra's defeat in the May 6 presidential election, which was won by General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.
Masra, who also run for the top job, 18.5% of the vote, according to the country's electoral commission.
