Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called African nations Russia's political allies, including in protecting the
principles of the UN Charter.
"In political terms, African countries are our allies on many items of the international agenda, including the defense of the principles of the UN Charter,"
Lavrov said during a plenary session of Russia's Federation Council.
Answering a question about how the agreements of the second Russia-Africa Summit are being implemented, Lavrov noted that relations with the countries of the African continent are developing in a working mode.
He highlighted that the summit resulted in five documents aimed at practical interaction in the fields of investment, trade, creation of new logistics chains, as well as transition to trade in national currencies.
