Earlier on Friday, South Africa filed an urgent request with the ICJ for additional measures against Tel Aviv over the situation in the Gazan town of Rafah, where Israeli troops launched a military operation on Monday.

"It will encourage others in the Arabic and Islamic countries to go this direction, not only to go to the International Court of Justice but the International Criminal Court and this will be reflected soon in the image of Israel Internationally and on the flexibility of Israel not to move freely around the world," said Naim.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently confirmed that

"The Egyptian move is very important and crucial. Egypt is the biggest Arab country which is directly involved in the conflict by being a border country to the Gaza Strip. They are aware of a lot of complications and the problems, especially around the borders and the Rafah crossing, where humanitarian rights have been violated. Egypt has an agreement with Israel which is binding for both parties on humanitarian matters, and Israel has violated this agreement repeatedly," he told Sputnik.
South Africa filed a genocide case against Israel with the ICJ on December 29 last year. In its application, South Africa alleged that Israel was committing acts of genocide against Palestine, and Egypt has now expressed interest in continuing to press and hold Israel accountable for the deaths of more than
