MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Ukraine has been frequently sending projectiles into Russian territory since it launched a counteroffensive in early June last year. Crimea, a former Ukrainian region that rejoined Russia after a referendum, has repeatedly been the target of Ukrainian attacks backed by Western arms supplies and intelligence, according to Moscow.
British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps admitted Tuesday that London had given Kiev permission to attack Crimea with British-supplied weapons because it considers the peninsula part of Ukraine.

"As you know, we have provided permissions for weapons to be used in the territory of Ukraine, including Crimea, which we believe is an integral part of Ukraine," Shapps said at the Sea Power Conference in London, as broadcast by Sky News.
