MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Earlier, on the occasion of the Victory Day of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had no doubts about Russia's victory and that the special military operation is the best proof that the Russian military is worthy of its ancestors who fought in the Great Patriotic War.
This night, Russian air defenses destroyed 21 rockets and nine drones over the Belgorod Region, as well as seven drones over the Kursk and Volgograd regions, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
“This night, a number of attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation using the RM-70 Vampire Multiple Launch Rocket System and aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles were stopped. Air defense systems on duty destroyed 21 rockets and nine UAVs over the territory of the Belgorod Region; seven UAVs were intercepted and destroyed over the Kursk and Volgograd regions," the ministry said.

Eight Civilians Injured in Ukrainian Attack on Russia's Belgorod Region, Governor Says

Russian air defenses shot down several targets near the city of Belgorod, eight civilians were injured, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
“Our air defense system worked over Belgorod and the Belgorod Region - several air targets approaching the city were shot down. According to preliminary information, eight civilians were injured,” Gladkov wrote on Telegram.
The governor added that three people with fragmentation wounds were taken to the regional clinical hospital, two were hospitalized to city hospital No. 2, and the three remaining injured received medical care on the spot.
Gladkov said more than 40 private households were damaged in the Belgorod Region as a result of the Ukrainian attack.
