The quality of life index (the higher, the better) is a measure of overall quality of life using a formula that takes into account purchasing power, pollution, house price-to-income ratio, safety, and other indicators.
South Africa, Kenya and Morocco topped the list of African countries with the highest quality of life index, according to Numbeo, a crowdsourced global database of quality of life data.
The three countries are ranked between 39th and 69th in the world, with Luxembourg first, the Netherlands second, and Iceland rounding out the top three.
Sputnik Africa has looked at the five African countries with the highest quality of life.

In South America, the ranking was led by Uruguay, with an index of 139.1.
