More than 700 people, in particular, have participated in the Immortal Regiment march in Beijing on this memorable date, a Sputnik correspondent reported. The commemorative action has been attended by citizens of Russia and countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and relatives of Soviet and Chinese soldiers who fought in World War II. In the Moldovan capital of Chisinau, thousands of people have also moved along the central streets accompanied by a brass band performing songs of the war years, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported. Participants of the Victory March are carrying flowers, portraits of their relatives-veterans, national flags and red banners. Motorcycle and car rallies in honor of May 9 Victory Day have also started in the central square of Chisinau, the correspondent said, adding that the column included many vintage cars, such as cars from World War II. Kiev residents have also been laying flowers at the eternal flame in the Memorial Park of Eternal Glory since early morning of Thursday despite the fact that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has moved the celebration of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany from May 9 to May 8, Ukrainian media reported. Meanwhile, Russian compatriots living in South Korea and employees of the Russian diplomatic mission have honored the memory of the fallen soldiers by laying flowers at the Varyag and the Koreets gunboat memorials in the city of Incheon, a Sputnik correspondent reported. The event has been attended by Russian Minister-Counsellor Valery Guenkov, Military Attache Nikolay Marchenko and Honorary Consul General of Russia to Incheon Chong Hong, among many others. Earlier on Thursday, the main Victory Day military parade was held on Red Square in Moscow to commemorate the 79th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, the part of World War II fought by the Soviet Union from 1941-1945. More than 9,000 people and over 70 pieces of military equipment took part in the event.
