Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) ordered the reduction of the country's power exports abroad in favor of domestic energy supply. For overseas customers, NERC imposed a 6% cap on total available grid generation for the next six months. The directive came into effect on May 1.According to the NERC, the Nigerian grid operator's prioritization of supplying international customers over domestic customers "has caused significant hardship" for the country's industrial, commercial and residential consumers.Since Saturday, following the directive, the power supply from the national grid has increased from 3,000 megawatts to over 4,700 megawatts, grid service data showed.NERC's decision followed last month's 230% tariff increase for 15% of customers who were promised greater power supply.

Nigeria Reduces Power Exports Abroad in Favor of Domestic Energy Supply
During his New Year address, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu promised to enhance the country's electricity supply and implement additional power projects as part of his administration's commitment.
Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)
ordered the reduction of the country's power exports abroad in favor of domestic energy supply.
For overseas customers, NERC imposed a 6% cap on total available grid generation for the next six months. The directive came into effect on May 1.
According to the NERC, the
Nigerian grid operator's prioritization of supplying international customers over domestic customers "has caused significant hardship" for the country's industrial, commercial and residential consumers.
Since Saturday, following the directive, the power supply from the national grid has increased from 3,000 megawatts to over 4,700 megawatts, grid service data showed.
NERC's decision followed last month's 230% tariff increase for 15% of customers who were promised greater
