This decision positions Chapo as the front-runner to succeed President Filipe Nyusi in the upcoming October elections.The announcement came after a three-day meeting of Frelimo's central committee, where Chapo emerged as the unexpected victor. "Chapo demonstrated that he is committed to the party and the country," President Nyusi said. "The soap opera of speculation ends, including speculation about a third term."
